Thrive’s First Coalition Meeting


September 20, 2024

Thrive hosted its first quarterly coalition meeting on Friday, September 20th. The luncheon was held at the Martin County Health Department. CEO and President, Eric Mills introduced the Thrive team, discussed the challenges that the area faces, and discussed what success in achieving our mission looked like. Kayla Corbiere, Director of Program Operations, discussed Thrive’s 8 Dimensions of Wellness and what it looks like as Thrive comes alongside to service an individual. Achievements were also celebrated and Recovery Coach Mary Parsons gave a testimonial of how she has seen a clear difference in one of Thrive’s clients.
 
 

Harvest Hustle 5k

September 14th, 2024

Director of Recovery Services, Carmel Cline, worked with the Martin County Community Action for Recovery Enhancement and Support (CARES) to host the 1st Harvest Hustle 5K during the Harvest Festival.  Thrive was glad to be a part of this event in various different ways! Recovery Coaches, Mary Parsons and Justin Muncy helped at the registration booth, and several of the Thrive team had fun running and walking the race!

MCHD Health & Wellness Pavilion

September 13-14, 2024

The Martin County Health Department hosted its annual Health and Wellness Pavilion at the Harvest Festival. This pavilion encourages individuals to get various free health screenings and information on services from multiple booths. Thrive Community Coalition attended and engaged individuals by passing out business cards, talking with and inviting folks to the upcoming coalition meeting, and giving out fun merch!

Community Event

August 11th, 2024

On August 11th, The Martin County Community Action for Recovery Enhancement and Support (CARES) hosted an event recognizing Thelma and Eugene Moore at the Pigeon Roost Park. Martin County Judge/Executive Lon Lafferty presented a “Servant’s Heart Award” in recognition of the Pigeon Roost couple for decades of “unwavering commitment and exemplary service” that they poured into their community. Thrive Community Coalition attended and had a table set up along with Addiction Recovery Care, Martin County Health Department, Operation UNITE, and Serenity House.

Shoot Hoops not Drugs – June 11

Operation Unite hosted a Shoot Hoops not Drugs event at the Martin County High School. This was a free regional basketball skills camp conducted by former UK four-time All-SEC Academic Team member Jarrod Polson. All school-age children were invited to attend. There were 350 people in attendance. 130 of those were youth. All youth received a free t-shirt and signature basketball along with dinner provided. Parents and guardians who attended were offered a program to educate them on the hidden dangers of vaping. Several of Thrive’s team volunteered to help prepare and serve food, as well as spend time playing basketball with the youth that came!

Martin County Health Department Father’s Day event

June 22nd, 2023

The Martin County Health Department’s HANDS program hosted a family picnic at the Martin County Lake to honor and celebrate all our wonderful dads for Father’s Day. 90 people attended, 31 were youth. There was an inflatable water slide, fishing, food trucks, games and competitions, crafts for the kiddos, and prizes for the dads! Several members of Thrive’s team attended, helping in set up and enjoy  the fun with all of the HANDS families.

Facing Hunger Food Bank

July 31st, 2023

Thrive Recovery Coaches, Mary Parsons and Justin Muncy partnered with Facing Hunger Food Bank Mobile Pantry on 7/31 at the Martin Search & Rescue Helicopter Pad in Inez and serviced 100 families.
